cutest baby ever vs. the rudest poet ever

Spent quite a bit of time visiting with my new nephew this weekend. He is just adorable! He has thick black hair and was wearing tiny little mittens so he wouldn't scratch his face or put his hands in his mouth which he kept trying to do anyway. His eyes were open and he was looking around in absolute wonder. I look forward to spending more time with him and his proud parents.

On Saturday afternoon, I did a benefit reading. I was extremely happy to donate my time to the organization receiving the funds and was reading with one of my favorite poets. All was good until I got on stage, began my reading and the person who was going on after me, started setting up their TWO VIDEO CAMERAS. Set up included THREE PEOPLE moving cafe tables and chairs around right in front of the stage, talking loudly, while running around plugging in all of the equipment. Did I mention this was WHILE I WAS READING? Did I mention I kept stumbling becaue I WAS SO DISTRACTED? So, why didn't you say anything while you had the mic you might ask? Well, it was one of those situations where I couldn't believe it was actually happening - I didn't know what to do. I've seen alot of rude things happen during poetry readings over the years, but for me personally, I have to say this was the rudest situation ever.

Later on that evening I went to Uffish's awesone backyard birthday party where I got to hang out with some of my favorite people like Girly, Andy and Alizinha who made a delicious-looking chocolate cake. And of course I got to see N. Seven weeks and going strong.

Today, I went to see a play which I will be writing about more later on.
