Italians Do It Better

Survived my first post-election reading yesterday at NYIT for the Salt, Bread and Wine Conferece. It went really well and I got to read with Maria Mazziotti Gillan who runs the Passaic Community College Poetry Center in Paterson and author Joanna Clapps Herman who gave us a wonderful history of the small town in Southern Italy she grew up in. We all read from our contributions to the anthology The Milk of Almonds: Italian American Women Writers on Food and Culture. It was not my typcial venue, the reading took place in the afternoon and the audience was mostly older people in suits, but they were great nonetheless and everyone seemed really appreciative of us for sharing our stories. Also, it's always nice to get a fat check at the end of a gig!

Don't forget we have a stellar for this Sunday's Atomic: Nicole Blackman, Ellen Miller, Jon Friedman and Felicia Sullivan. Info in the column on the right.

Yours in northeastern, homosexual, leftist, overeducated elitism.
