Recent Disturbing Ear Cleaning Incidents

I take the bus in Brooklyn a lot and I've noticed a disturbing trend among many of my fellow riders; the public cleaning of ear canals using non-cotton swab-like implements. I've seen people sticking in pen caps, plastic coffee stirrers, the eraser ends of pencils, and most recently a woman sitting next to me at the bus stop cleaned her ears with a METAL BOBBY PIN. It's probably not wise, not to mention sort of gross, to stick any object in your ears on a MOVING, BUMPY bus, but who am I to judge? I once applied deodorant on a train ride to Philadelphia, but at least I didn't run the risk of losing my hearing.
