ATOMIC just keeps getting better and better. Tonight I had the privilege of hosting four fantastic readers to another packed house. Jan Clausen, Jami Attenberg, Bon Joi and Greg Walloch all really rocked. Each was very different from the others, but together they really worked well, which was my main purpose of ATOMIC to begin with. It was particularly fun seeing Boni read as she was one of the first people I befriended on the poetry scene all those years ago.
Speaking of old friends, earlier today, I had brunch at Ducky's house. She published one of my chapbooks back in 1996 and has been a great inspiration ever since. Had a fabulous time hanging with Ms. Doolittle and Tommy in their adorable abode and met some other super cool ladies. We had a little clothes swap and even though I promised myself I wouldn't take anything else home(I just cleaned out my closets recently)I walked away with three new warm sweaters and a sexy silver choker. Good stuff.
In between Brunch and the reading I re-read Joan Didion's The White Album, which has got to be one of the finest pieces of writing ever.
Other than that the weekend was pretty boring. Writing, Cleaning, Gym, Grocery Shopping and last night I watched several episodes of The Family Guy on DVD - it's pretty hilarious and I can't believe I never watched it when it was on TV.
I'm feeling blessed tonight.
