recent reads in brief

Recent Books Read:
Brit-Think, Ameri-Think by Jane Walmsley
As a frequent travler to London and a fan of British culture, I was quite taken with this little book and related to much of what was talked about therein. As the title suggests, it's a charming and humorous comparison of American and British life. On the back is a quote from George Bernard Shaw, "England and America are two countries seperated by the same language," which pretty much says it all.

Tetched by Thaddeus Rutkowski
Really dug this new novel from one of my favorite New York writers. I'm interviewing Thad for Small Spiral Notebook and will have more to say about it then.

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
Excellent guide to writing and the writing life. I usually steer clear of books on writing but this one is chock full of amusing anecdotes and advice on how to have the patience and dedication it takes to get the work done.
